The new emir was named in the result of the meeting and deliberations by Gwoza king makers.

The coronation of Muhammad Timta was not magnificent due to security issues and fears of new potential Boko Haram strikes on Gwoza: at least 110 people lost their lives and 2000 were displaced during last week attacks in the area.

In his address, the new emir vowed to foster peace and unity, strengthen the ties between Muslims and Christians in the area.

It would be recalled that Shehu Idrissa Timta lost his life in a daring Boko Haram attack on a convoy of three emirs on May 30, 2014. He had been reportedly the main target of the terrorists for his soft and liberal views.

The other affected rulers were the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza, and the Emir of Askira, Abdullahi Muhammadu. The two emirs managed to survive the attack.

The trio was travelling to the burial ceremony of the late Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar.
