GITS launches ‘Containerised Datacentres’ in West Africa

System Integrator GITS has announced a partnership with the Belgium based engineering company Automation to develop and sell highly energy efficient Containerised Datacentre solutions.

Automation which won the ‘Modular Award‘ of the ‘DataCentre & Cloud Awards 2013’ launched the new Data Center Container which, among other things, enables IT facilities to be moved outdoors, without compromising on the demanded security and flexibility.

Sometimes referred to as ‘IT-in-a-Box’,  another feasible application for containerised datacentre  is to bridge an otherwise unavoidable loss of IT services during moves or renovation work.

The Automation modular datacentre will also provide ready solution to the demand for more high density and quick deployment of information.

With cuts in budgets for facility services and with the demand for new environmental conditions to be applied to IT infrastructures, the demand for the Automation modular datacentres has become even more imperative.

“The Automation modular datacentres provide a solution for these trends and are built fully customised. Depending on the requirements, various cooling systems can be applied, such as direct expansion, chilled water, adiabatic cooling and fresh air cooling. The innovative design and equipment are a guarantee for fast delivery times, reliability and 25% less operating costs,” Jo Aelbrecht – Automation CEO said at the launch.

“The strength of the design is the result of our in-depth know-how, our years of experience and the acknowledged competence Automation has been developing out of the business unit.

“This engineering knowledge led to the development of the competence ‘Datacenter Facilities’ and our current successes,” Jo Aelbrecht added.

The Containerized Datacentres, were built according to customers’ requirements and specifications and are robust enough to withstand the toughest weather conditions.

The runner-up in the ‘Facility Product of the Year 2013′ category and nominee  of the ‘Datacenter Dynamics EMEA Awards 2013’ in the ‘The Most Extreme Data Centre, Automation CEO said:“Pretesting of the IT configuration [in the datacentre] is executed in the factory to allow a plug & play solution for the customer anywhere in the world.”

Their Ghanaian counterparts, GITS were pleased to introduce the facility into Ghana.

CEO of GITS, Abdul-Bassit Ibrahim Munagah said: ‘As a system integrator we recognized the need for flexible solutions within the West-African continent and synchronized our ideas with this Competent Center for Containerized solutions. We are convinced that these prefabricated solutions will be adapted fast in our region.”

GITS is also noted for its managed services including management and design of data center infrastructure that support enterprise servers and applications, storage, backups, networks, data bases and security to a vast variety of businesses in Ghana and abroad.
