Hamburg’s Hakan Calhanoglu wants Bayer Leverkusen move

The 20-year-old midfielder scored 11 goals in the league for Mirko Slomka’s side last season despite their struggles, and featured in both play-off matches with Greuther Furth to decide which side would play in the top-flight next term.

Hamburg secured victory on away goals, but Calhanoglu does not want to spend another campaign at the Imtech Arena despite signing a two-year extension to his contract in February.

A move to UEFA Champions League qualifiers Bayer Leverkusen has been touted for the Turkey international, and he has his sights set on a move to the BayArena.

“It (the situation) has not changed,” he told Bild . “I am still determined to go to the new season at Bayer Leverkusen.”

Calhanoglu has also been linked with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal.
