Care missed the agonising 20-15 first-Test defeat to the All Blacks at Eden Park in Auckland last weekend after falling on his shoulder when attempting a grubber kick in training.
A late try from centre Conrad Smith gave New Zealand a dramatic triumph in the opening encounter.
But Stuart Lancaster’s men have been handed a boost ahead of the second Test at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, with prop Joe Marler – Care’s room-mate on the tour – confirming that his Harlequins colleague will be fit.
“Danny’s shoulder is good,” Marler said.
“He says it’s back to where it was before he missed a kick and fell over on it.
“It was gutting that something as minor as that could make him miss out on the first Test, but he’s back fit now and available for selection.”
Meanwhile, fly-half Owen Farrell is poised to return in place of Freddie Burns after missing the first Test following his appearance in the Aviva Premiership final for Saracens.
And Farrell is excited at the prospect of resuming his partnership with Care.
“I played in the Six Nations for the first time with Danny and loved it,” Farrell said. “He’s obviously a world-class player and someone who can take any opportunity that comes.
“Not only that but he can make something out of nothing. To be able to play off the back of that is huge. Danny’s a brilliant player.”
