The Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday, June 8th beat Ethiopia 3-0 in the second leg of their final qualifier to advance to this year’s African Women’s Championship in Namibia.
Goals from striker Faiza Ibrahim, midfielder Elizabeth Cudjoe and right back Hillia Kobblah were all Ghana needed to book their place in this year’s tournament for Africa’s elite women soccer players.
The win meant Ghana qualified on a 5-0 aggregate, following a 2-0 victory over their East African counterparts in the first leg two weeks ago in Addis Ababa.
The Black Queens, who missed out in the last edition of the competition hosted by Equatorial Guinea in 2012, will however be hoping to win the tournament for the first time in history after reaching the finals on two separate occasions.
The 2014 African Women’s Championship will be played between the 11th and 25th October.
