Head coach of the senior national female team The Black Queens Yusif Basigi says the team has what it takes to win the upcoming African women’s championship
Goals from Faiza Ibrahim, Elizabeth Cudjoe and Hillia Kobblah gave the Black Queens the win over Ethiopia as they completed a 5-nil aggregate victory over both legs in the final round qualifier.
United States-based Cudjoe, who scored in the first leg doubled Ghana’s advantage, put Yussif Basigi’s side in the driving seat and on their way to the Championship to be staged by Namibia.
‘The fans in Tamale were very fantastic.
‘They came through to support the girls in their numbers and it was amazing.
‘Since we have been playing these qualifiers this was one of their best games I have seen.
‘We really need to do a lot of homework and corrections and if that is done, trust me; Africa will be taken by storm in Namibia’.
Ghana and six teams will joins hosts Namibia for the2014 African Women’s Championship. Holders Equatorial Guinea will play not part in the finals after failing to qualify.
The final tournament which will start from 11-24 October will also serve the continental qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
