Hearts of Oak’s board member Frank Nelson says the club will do extensive consultations with stakeholders before deciding on whether to participate in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Phobians have qualified for Africa’s second tier club competition having finished third in the Ghana Premier League.

Several Ghanaian soccer fans however believe the club is not in a good state to challenge for honour in Africa next term.

The Accra-based club endured a difficult domestic campaign following the shocking dismissal of coach David Duncan.

The club’s management have also had their fare share of problems with Managing Director Neil Armstrong Mortagbe interdicted over allegations of wrongdoing.

Board member Frank Nelson now says all these factors and more will be appraised before the final decision on whether to go to Africa or not is made.

‘This is a decision that will be made collectively by the club,’ he told Metro FM.

‘The board might seek the inputs of other stakeholders of the club before the decision to go to Africa is reached.

‘It is not just about the money but then you need to assess the strength of your playing body and technical team.

‘You have to make sure all logistics are put in place to ensure we go to Africa not just for the sake of it, but to go there and make an impact.’
