Jose Mourinho has confirmed English Premier League club Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The Spain international returned to Barcelona three years ago from Arsenal but unlikely to wear the Catalan colours in the 2014/2015 season.
Chelsea who are currently doing an overhaul of their entire squad and are close to signing Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa admitted their interest in the former Arsenal captain.
Jose Mourinho said of Cesc Fabregas:
‘We have some [interest in Fabregas]. I have interest in analyzing the situation.
‘It looks like he’s really interested in leaving Barcelona, and is very interested in coming back to England. This is clear. But it’s not for now, or tomorrow, or for before the World Cup.
‘There is a process where he wants to leave, he wants to come to England because it’s the country where he wants to be and where he prefers to play. We are interested in monitoring the situation.’
Cesc Fabragas will be with World Champions Spain for the FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil after making the final 23-man squad for Del Bosque’s side.
