The Chief Executive Officer of Saham Life Insurance, Tawiah Ben-Ahmed’s reference to Yaw Assah-Sam, CEO of The Quest Sports Management Co Ltd that  ‘To win the game is great, To play the game is greater but to love the game is the greatest of all,’ summarizes what transpired in the third edition of the golf classic.

Vincent Torgah demonstrated that he has the pedigree to take on the world as he finished with a gross total of 280. Eight strokes under par in the Saham Insurance Classic Champion, designed for pro golfers.

He completed a hat-trick of wins as he made this his third successive win, taking the Saham Insurance Trophy and a cheques of GH¢10,000.

Eric Heneku came through the ranks and claimed the third slot, taking home a cash prize of GH¢3,000 with a cumulative score of 289 one stroke under par. Ahead at second place was John K. Mawuli, with an impressive total of 284, four stroked under par and four strokes behind the eventual winner.

Lucky A. Ayisah broke through the ranks on day three with a 69 on the third day and moved up the ladder as did Emmanuel Ankrah, but the biggest mover was the john K. Mawuli who played 68 four strokes under Par.

The tournament, which saw 55 professional and semi-professional golfers battle for supremacy, ranking points and the top prize of GH¢10,000 in a prize pot of GH¢30,600, saw many interesting milestones.

The only lady professional golfer in Ghana, Mariko Onwana-Agyeman, was invited by The Quest Sports Management Company to play a demonstration round.

The Saham Insurance boss said the vision of The Quest Sports Management Company closely aligns with what Saham Insurance stands for.

The tournament also saw 12 international players from Togo participate and it is anticipated that the inaugural anniversary in September would host an even larger contingent.

Kofi Kossi from Togo won the scratch event with a total score over the four days of 298. Yaw Dogbe with 305 points placed second beating Joseph Klah to third place with 313 Points.

Presenting the prizes was Nubarni from Modern Autos Services, who sponsored the Hole-In-One challenge with the Foton Conqueror 4X4 Pick-up which is still yet to be won.

The main event was contested by over 30 professional golfers.
