FA Cup final: Herbert Addo to teach Kotoko “new tricks”

Inter Allies coach Hebert Addo has rubbished talks that his side go into this weekend’s MTN FA Cup final as the underdogs.

Addo will be in the dug-out for the Tema-based side as they come face to face with giants Asante Kotoko in the final of this season’s FA Cup, slated for the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday June 8.

The veteran coach took over the Premier League new-boys late last year and masterminded a miraculous turn of fortunes as the team bounced back from the bottom of the table to escape relegation.

Kotoko are going into the final off the back of winning their third consecutive Ghana Premier League title, This will also be the Porcupine Warriors’ third FA Cup final in three years.

Despite the credentials and track-record of Kotoko, Addo, a multiple Ghana Premier League title-winning coach, says that he is not fazed by the daunting test.

“I don’t think about the opposing team, they should rather think about me,” Addo told the pre-match press conference in Accra.

Inter Allies beat Kotoko 1-0 the last side both sides clashed, in a league game at the Accra Stadium.

“There are no big sides in the Cup games and our team have what it takes to beat Kotoko,” Addo added.

Kotoko, who will be aiming for a ninth FA Cup triumph, will go into the clash without their Head Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who is on national scouting duty with the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Addo, himself a former coach of Kotoko, is confident of outwitting his former employers to delay their hopes for a first ever ‘Double’.

“Sunday’s match will be exciting and I will teach them new tricks,” he concluded confidently.
