‘NPP Should Hold Joint Presidential And Parliamentary Primaries’

A defeated First Vice National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Omari Wadie, is proposing a joint Presidential and Parliamentary primaries for the party.

Mr. Omari Wadie in an open letter to the party’s National Chairman and General Secretary says the party should conduct both the Presidential and Parliamentary primaries on the same day to save the party’s time and resources.

Speaking to Citi News, the former Ayawaso West Wugon Constituency Chairman said the NPP will go into the 2016 election united if such a proposal is adopted.

“I think instead of waiting and going through all these noisy primaries…we should be able to pair the two primaries so we can have it all on the same day and finish with it and focus on the 2016 elections… it will help the party and put everybody’s heart at peace,” Mr. Wadie explained.

Commenting on the issue of cost, Mr. Wadie noted that the party and the delegates would save themselves from extra cost if the party implements the proposal.

“The delegates who would vote at the Presidential primary are the same people who would vote at the Presidential primary so why don’t we bring them together to come and cast one vote… we can have both primaries at one cost,” he said.
