Can’t stop scoring: Mahatma Otoo hits brace in Cup win

Mahatma Otoo scored twice as his Norwegian side Sogndal thrashed Strømmen 3-0 in the Norwegian (NM) Cup on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old struck in the 47th and 66nd minutes, complementing a strike from teammate Tim Nilsen in the 52nd minute.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak skipper struggled to to hit the back of the net in his first season last year, managing only a single goal in 10 games.

But this season has been refreshingly different for him, hitting a rich vein of scoring form. Otoo has now scored three goals in two Cup games, three goals in his last three games as well as eight goals in 11 games across all competitions, in what is turning out to be his breakthrough season in Europe.

Sogndal travel to Odd in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Monday, and Otoo will hope to add to his impressive tally.

He will however have to watch the World Cup in Brazil from the comfort of his home in Norway as he was only selected s a stand-by player in Ghana’s World Cup squad.
