Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has revealed he felt the urge to slap Rashid Sumaila after the Ghana defender nearly took off his legs during Saturday’s pre-World Cup friendly in Rotterdam.

Robben was at the end of a clumsy tackle from Rashid Sumaila in the match the Oranje won 1-0 thanks to a Robin van Persie early goal.

The Bayern Munich man escaped unscathed but rushed on to Sumaila to express his dissatisfaction.

The Sundowns man was visibly apologetic and tried to calm down the winger.

‘On first happening I felt like letting my hand go but thankfully I restrained myself,’ Robben told De Telegraaf

‘It was a bad tackle.’
Robben missed the first game of the 2010 World Cup due to a hamstring injury and he is desperate to avoid a repeat of that this year’s tournament in Brazil.
