AFRICAN ORIGIN Travel and Sports Tourism has been appointed by the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) as the official company to resell tickets in Ghana for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games slated for Scotland, this year.

After considering several bids, the GOC was convinced that African Origin, owned by Samson Deen, has the wherewithal to carry out the travel arrangements for prospect travelers.

The GOC therefore appointed African Origin from among a pool of travel agencies in the country, as the authorised ticket reseller company for the GOC.

African Origins’ main task would be the redistribution of tickets allocated to the GOC as well as taking charge of organising the hospitality for the games, to help make it a success.

‘The GOC announces that African Origin Travel and Sports Tourism Company have been officially appointed as the authorised ticket reseller for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

‘This makes African Origin the sole authorised organisation responsible for the sale of event tickets for the Commonwealth Games,’ Richard Akpokavie, Secretary General, GOC said in an interview.

African Origin, with its headquarters at Osu in Accra and several branches across the country, is the leader when it comes to the travel and sports tourism industry in Ghana.

It ferried thousands of Ghanaian soccer fans to watch the FIFA World Cups in Germany, 2006 and South Africa, 2010.

It was also responsible for ferrying Ghanaians for the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, among a host of other world sporting events with success.

African Origin’s professional services to its clients were duly recognised as they were awarded as the Best Sports Tourism Company in the country for 2013 during the recently held Ghana Tourism Awards.
