Goners: Amidaus relegated from Ghana Premier League

The battle at the bottom is turning ugly, as things are shaping up, with clubs slowly coming to know their fate. One club has fallen, and on the last day, two more shall join.

For Tema-based  Amidaus Professionals, Sunday marked an end to an adventure that lasted two seasons.

A strike from Bennett Ofori was all it took in Berekum as home side Berekum Chelsea beat them 1-0 to send them packing from the Ghana Premier League back into the lower tiers.

Amidaus, who qualified for the Premier League two years ago, are now rock bottom with 33 points, and become the first club to be relegated from this season’s top flight with one game to go.

This latest development means there are now eight clubs all involved in the fight to avoid the remaining two relegation slots, starting from eight-placed Medeama SC, who were undone by a hat trick by Bechem United’s Augustine Okrah away on Sunday.

Amidaus become the second consecutive Tema club to be relegated in successive seasons, after Tema Youth bade farewell to the top flight just last year.
