Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has sent a message to fellow countryman Jerry Akaminko, wishing him a speedy recovery after the defender sustained a horrific injury in Ghana’s warm up game against the Netherlands in Rotterdam on Saturday, May 31.
Akaminko was stretchered off in injury time after he landed awkwardly on his feet in the dying embers of the game.
Essien, however took to twitter to express his sympathy for his teammate after the game at the De Kuip Arena.
‘Very sad about Jerry’s injury. Get well soon. We are with you. Stay strong bro!!!’ He tweeted.
Akaminko has been ruled out of the World Cup after the team doctors confirmed the state of his injury and noted that he will not be available before the team begins their campaign with the USA on June 16th.
