Heads of State arrive for ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting

Accra, May 30, GNA – Presidents of ECOWAS member-states, have arrived in the country for the Extraordinary ECOWAS Summit.

The Presidents were welcomed with a guard of honour and traditional dance performances, as well as bouquets of fresh flowers.

They would be discussing the Boko Haram issue in Nigeria, where over 200 school girls are being held hostage by the group, as well as other issues in Mali.

They are Presidents Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger, Allasane Ouattara of La Cote D’Ivoire, Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, Macky Sall of Senegal, Yayi Boni of Benin, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali, Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, Vice President   Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia, Blaise Compaoré of Burkina Faso and Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria.

The meeting which starts this afternoon is being hosted by President John Dramani Mahama,   Chairman of ECOWAS.

The Presidents were also welcomed by some of their citizens in Ghana.
