Glorious duo: Janet Mensah wins silver, Martha Bissah claims bronze at Africa Youth Games

Ghana’s Janet Mensah won silver medal in the girl’s 100m final in a time of 12.03 seconds on Day 8 of the African Youth Games.

She lost to Nigeria’s Mercy Ntia-Obong by 3 hundredths of a second.

Ghana also won another medal in athletics as Martha Bissah emerged with the bronze medal in the girl’s 800m final in a time of 2.09.50 behind an Ethiopian and a Kenyan.

The country however just failed to make it to podium in the girls’ Long Jump where Felicia Frimpong put up a spirited performance to place fourth in the event after jumping 5.59m in her last attempt.

Ghana’s medal count now reaches 8 at the 2nd Africa Youth Games in Botswana following weightlifters Jane Arkoh and Christian Amoah bagging three silver medals each in their competition back on day 2 and 3 respectively.
