DCOP Kofi Boakye warns chiefs against ‘unnecessary interference’

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye is warning chiefs and opinion leaders against ‘unnecessary interference’ in policing in the region.

Mr. Kofi Boakye has therefore charged them to instill discipline in their subjects or followers rather than coming forward to apologize when suspected criminals and law-breakers are arrested from their area.

Speaking in an interview with Nhyira FM’s Kofi Asante Ennin on “Kuroyi mu nsem” on Dwaso Nsem in Kumasi on Friday, he said such interference do undermine efficient policing in the region.

Some residents have commended Mr. Kofi Boakye for ensuring adequate security in the region within the three months he was made the regional commander.

But DCOP Boakye believes proper collaboration between his outfit and residents can better help curb insecurity in the region.

The Ashanti Region, according to the regional coordinating council, is gaining notoriety for armed robbery.

The Regional Commander also expressed worry about the unplanned load shedding being experienced across the country.

He said the frequent outages are affecting police night patrolling.

He called on officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana to publish a time table for the on-going power outage in the country. Story by Kofi Asante Ennin/Nhyira Fm/Kumasi-Ghana
