I Have Headache Picking My Final 23 Players – Appiah

Coach, Kwasi Appiah
Ghana Coach, Kwasi Appiah, has admitted to having a tough time picking his final 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

Appiah currently has 26 players camped in Amsterdam in preparation  for a pre-World Cup friendly against Holland on May 31. And, according to him, all 26 players are fully fit, and are giving off their best in training.

The coach told Ghana FA’s communication directorate that the prospect of having to cut off three players from the squad was a headache for him.

Appiah said: ‘Yesterday, I was having a chat with my assistant and told him that now we have got a big headache.

‘The good thing is that the performances of all the players are really high, and even though it’s good for the team, we are having a big headache as to who to drop at the end of our tour of Holland.’

‘There are so many countries suffering from petty injuries but thank God there is nothing like that in our camp and all the players are doing well,’ he said of the injury situation in camp.

Appiah went on to laud the the players for what he said was their high level of discipline in camp.

‘I would say one year down the line, the unity is so great and discipline is very high. They show lots of respect and we also make sure we do what is right,’ he said.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group G alongside Germany, Portugal and USA. They will open their campaign on June 16 when they take on the USA.
