Bradley Davies ruled out of Wales’ tour of South Africa with hamstring injury

Warren Gatland’s side have already been decimated by injury, with captain Sam Warburton and star Leigh Halfpenny the biggest names sidelined.

The likes of Justin Tipuric and Scott Williams will also join Davies in missing out after the 27-year-old had surgery on his hamstring on Wednesday.

“Bradley Davies underwent surgery yesterday for a damaged hamstring, ruling him out of contention of Wales’ tour of South Africa,” a Welsh Rugby Union statement released on Thursday read.

Davies is said to have suffered the injury in training.

Gatland will soon name his squad for the tour, which begins with a warm-up match against Eastern Province Kings on June 10.

Tests against the Springboks in Durban and Nelspruit will follow.

Lock Alun-Wyn Jones is likely to captain the side in the absence of Warburton.
