Waiting for ruling: Kotoko report Yahaya Mohammed to FIFA

Local Black Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed has been reported to the World football governing body for leaving unceremoniously to sign a pre-contract with Al-Ittihad.

The 26-year-old forward whose contract with the Porcupine warriors expires in August was hit with an indefinite suspension after going AWOL to sign a pre-contract with the Libyan giants.

All means of arbitration between the Ghana league champions and the player couldn’t work, calling for the former to inform FIFA through the Ghana FA, after the player dared to face them boot for boot at the World football governing body.

Alhaji Ali Maradona, the Communications Manager for the club has revealed that the idea to meet the player at FIFA was a joint decision by Asantehene, who is the life patron of the club, the board and the management.

‘We have reported Yahaya Mohammed to FIFA and that was a decision supported by all stakeholders including Otumfuo and the Board of the club,’ he told Metro fm.

‘FIFA know the law better so we want them to rule on the case to settle the impasses once and for all.

‘The player is still serving an indefinite suspension, unless FIFA says otherwise, that is why we had to inform the GFA to stop him from participating in the game between the local select side and the Black Stars last Friday.’

The former OGC Nice and Tema Youth has not taken part of domestic football since the Local Black Stars returned from the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
