Tema, May 28, GNA – Scores of traders thronged the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tema on Suday to sell items bearing the portrait of the late Mr Paul Victor Obeng, the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission.

The Church, his parish, held a memorial mass to mark one week of his death and drew many dignitaries including Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.

The items included handkerchiefs, scarves, plates, cups and photographs.

‘Sales have been good compared to the sales on a normal day’ Mr. Divine Negro, an ice cream seller, told the Ghana News Agency

He said he sympathized and grieved with the family of the late Mr Obeng and thought ice cream would be needed to soothe the throats of the congregation.

Miss Beatrice Morrison, a photographer, said   sales has not been   too good adding that it was due the current state of technology which allows people to take photographs with mobile phones and tablets.

A   seller of mugs embossed with the portrait of P.V Obeng said sales has been ‘very good’   adding she ran out of wares because most people wanted something to hold in memory of P.V. ‘ and what better object can they choose over a mug or cup   from which we drink water or beverage.’
