Ghana’s best academy Right to Dream grab talented English coach to boost operations

Ghana’s leading football academy Right to Dream has grabbed one of the rising stars in youth coaching in England to start their new project of discovering football talents in Takoradi.

Cheltenham Town youth coach Tim Bell is heading to Ghana in an exciting coaching role with the Right To Dream Academy.

Bell, 24, has been a coach in the Robins Academy since 2009 and he also has a coaching role at Hartpury College which has resulted in him moulding many talented players in England.

But he is swapping it all for Ghana in an opportunity that will most certainly take his football career to another level as Right to Dream Academy is credited for unearthing some of the West African country’s best talents in recent times including World Cup striker Abdul Majeed Waris.

‘I’m going to be the Talent School Project Manager for the Right To Dream Academy,’ he said.

‘I’ll be working with 8-12 year-olds and setting up a mini-academy in Takoradi on the coast of Ghana. Hopefully I’ll be able to feed players in the scholarship programme at the Academy.

‘They (Ghanaians) absolutely adore the sport and I’m probably going over at the best time possible with the World Cup obviously because Ghana have their team out there and hopefully there are a few lads from the Right To Dream Academy in that squad.

‘They idolise footballers and they are their role-models which is why football can be so powerful for young people and for families in places like Ghana.’

Tim will be a big loss for the Cheltenham Town Academy with Russell Milton and Jamie Victory speaking highly of his abilities over his five years with the club.

It is however the influence of Jamie and especially Russell that have helped spur the young coach on to achieve his goals with the UEFA B license and his new role in Ghana.

‘I have to say a massive thank you to Russ, Jamie and Antoine (Thompson),’ said Tim.

‘The Academy has really taken off in the last five years and the working environment has been fantastic for young coaches. It will be a sad day when I do have to say goodbye but I’m meeting up with Russ and Jamie at the weekend for a barbecue and to say goodbye. I will definitely stay in touch with Russ throughout my period away because it is something he really encouraged me to do as well.’
