Ghana winger Andre Dede Ayew is optimistic the Black Stars will shine in the Brazil 2014 showpiece despite being tagged the Group ‘G’ underdogs.

The Marseille marksman admitted Ghana’s Group ‘G’ status but indicated that the Black Stars are bent on reversing the trend in the summer soccer festival.

Speaking to the media a few minutes before jetting out of the country last Saturday, he expressed the hope that the continent’s representatives, particularly Ghana, will do well in Brazil.

‘We are not under pressure because we have been tagged as the underdogs. Germany and Portugal are considered favourites, but we want to change the status quo.

‘We want you to believe in us, trust us to the end, because we are going to fight. We have a good team and I believe Africa’s representatives will go far this time. We will approach the matches as they come,’ Dede said.

Dede is part of the Black Stars team that are currently in Holland preparing for the 20th FIFA soccer festival next month.

Ghana will begin their campaign in Group G against USA on June 16, and later face Germany and Portugal.
