Adansi Zongo Chief Blasts Media

CHIEF OF Adansi Zongo, Alhaji Jibrin Ibrahim, has descended heavily on media practitioners in the country over their decision not to praise the police for their efforts which have ensured total peace in Ghana.

According to the traditional head, the professional manner at which the Ghana Police Service (GPS) acted after the judgment of the 2012 election petition by the Supreme Court was delivered saved Ghana from a possible disaster.

Alhaji Ibrahim observed that prior to the announcement of the court’s verdict; tension was at its all time high in the country, so he was even afraid that a calamity might hit the country.

But the Adansi Zongo Chief said minutes after the court announced its verdict, armed-to-the-teeth policemen were seen all over the streets and at vantage parts of the country to the amazement of all.

Alhaji Ibrahim was of the conviction that the swift and effective manner at which the police acted sent shivers down the spine of any person or group of people who planned to cause mayhem.

The Zongo chief bemoaned that barely two years after the court gave its verdict, the police who ensured that law and order was sustained in the country, have not been praised by the media.

‘To be honest with you, I am sad about this development so I have been looking for a grand opportunity and platform to praise the police for their roles in ensuring peace in Ghana, if the media won’t do it.’

Alhaji Ibrahim, who was speaking when DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander paid a courtesy call on him, admonished the media to begin to appreciate the yeoman job of the police.

He also praised the police at Obuasi for implementing new strategies which have contributed to minimise the activities of illegal miners and also boosted the total security of the mining city.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, a product of the Ahmadiyya School in Kumasi, stunned his hosts, when he recited some verses in Holy Quran, after which he called for prayers from the Muslim faith in the country for the police.

He appealed to the Muslim faithful in the country to constantly support the men in black with prayers so that they would succeed.

‘I am here to receive your prayers and support, and that of the entire Muslims in Ghana. Our work as policemen in fighting crime is difficult so we need your prayers to succeed,’ he said.

DCOP Kofi Boakye was accompanied by Jojo Bebli, a London-trained security expert, who is acting as consultant by providing modern ways of ensuring security knowledge to the police in the region.
