No return for French Grand Prix, says Bernie Ecclestone

The race was held at Magny-Cours from 1991 to 2008, but was removed from the calendar for the 2009 season due to financial difficulties.

Recent reports suggested the event could in line for a return to the Formula One World Championship, but Ecclestone refuted those claims at the weekend.

“No,” he is quoted as saying by Autosport. “They are knocking on the door, but I don’t think we can do that.”

He had better news for Azerbaijan, however, with the country set to be added to the schedule for the 2015 season.

“Yes, it is all done,” he explained. “It will happen next year.”

Nico Rosberg currently sits four points ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the top of the 2014 drivers’ championship.
