I Won’t Give Powers Rematch …Bukom Banku

Bukom Banku acknowledges his fans after he was declared winner

Undefeated Cruiserweight boxer, Bukom Banku, has indicated that he will not engage Ayitey Powers in a rematch after beating the latter to pulp.

Banku out-pointed Powers in their one-sided clash 11 days ago at the Accra Stadium, and despite the outcome, the defeated Ayitey Powers is demanding a rematch to prove a point.

He blamed the defeat on the claim that he disobeyed Nigerian preacher

TB Joshua, his wife and the fact that his opponent was overweight ahead of the fight.

To Powers, he would have handled Banku with ease if the latter had made the required weight. He therefore requested that he be given the second chance to make amends.

But Banku stated categorically that he will not grant him that chance as a result of Powers’ belowaverage performance.

He however pointed out that he will fight again on one condition – that the promoters pay him GH¢100,000.

‘I won’t give Powers a rematch, he didn’t give me a good fight. Did you see how I disciplined him? Yea. If the promoters will give me 1billion, I will fight.’

The three judges scored the bout117-109, 119-100 and 120-108 in favour of Banku.
