The 24-year-old who is the younger brother of ex Ghana striker Joetex Frimpong has provided eight assists for Bayelsa United both in the Nigerian top flight and the CAF Confederations Cup.

The ex Club Sportif Hammalif winger has turned his football career around since his return to the Nigerian league in 2013.

He has emerged as one of the most talked of stars in Nigeria having scored two goals and provided eight assists so far this season to earn the praise of his coach Richard Bubagha.

‘Eric has been more effective this season,’ he said.

‘I’m pleased with his work-rate. Eric’s contributions have been so great to the team.

Frimpong’s assists were delivered in home matches against Nasarawa United, Enugu Rangers as well as Abia Warriors and on the road at Sunshine Stars and FC Taraba.

Bayelsa United equally benefited from Frimpong’s assists in the Caf Confederation Cup against FC Kondzo and How Mine.

His form has helped Bayelsa rise to fourth in the Nigerian top flight and the player is delighted to be making a meaningful contribution this term.

‘My job is to operate on both sides of the flanks and create chances for my teammates,’ he said.

‘I’m happy with the conversion rate which explains why Bayelsa is doing well.’
