Another Blue gone: David Luiz says goodbye to Chelsea

David Luiz has said his goodbyes to his Chelsea side after completing a medical to move to French Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint Germain. The Brazilian is set to become the most expensive defender with his transfer fee believed to be around £49 million.

Chelsea confirmed the agreement on the club’s official website:

‘Chelsea Football Club and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed terms for the transfer of David Luiz to the French club.

‘The move is now subject to David Luiz agreeing personal terms with PSG and passing a medical examination.’

The player who follows Franck Lampard out of Stamford Bridge after three and a half years wrote on his departure:

‘Thanks Chelsea for the three and half years of great partnership.

‘I’ve made good friends, won many titles and those memories will last with me forever.

‘I’d like to thank my team mates, all staff and all supporters [my geezers].

‘I’m leaving with great sadness but at the same time excited for the new challenge that lies ahead in this great club in a city that have always enchanted me.

‘It’s a new stage, new challenge and together we will go even further. Allez Paris!’

Chelsea could still show other players the door with Samuel Eto’o being the next likely to leave the club. The Cameroon player has hit out at Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho twice in the last week and could leave the club when his contract runs out next month.
