Buehrle pitched seven innings, striking out five while allowing seven hits.

The Blue Jays’ hot hitting continued at the top of the first inning, when Melky Cabrera and Jose Bautista both crunched homers.

A five-run second inning followed as the Canadian outfit gained their match-winning lead, as Bautista, Jose Reyes (two), Edwin Encarnacion and Brett Lawrie all batted in runs.

Results went the Blue Jays’ way on Thursday, as rivals the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles also lost.

The Yankees remain a game behind the Blue Jays after falling 3-2 to the Chicago White Sox, while the Orioles were pipped 8-7 by the Cleveland Indians after 13 innings.
