Tied down: Kwesi Appiah agrees new contract with Ghana Football Association


The Ghana Football Association has secured Kwesi Appiah’s services as Black Stars coach at least for another two years after agreeing in principle to a contract extension.

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantekyie told  AllSports.com.gh  that they agreed the extension in a meeting with Appiah this week and now expect him to lead the Black Stars to at least the semi finals of the competition.

Appiah has been Ghana boss for the last two years and while he failed to end the country’s long and sometimes miserable wait for a Nations Cup trophy, he secured world cup qualification in emphatic style against Egypt.

Nyantekyie expects Ghana to impress in Brazil in June but is adamant the world cup will not influence Appiah’s place as Ghana coach whatever happens.

‘This is the clearest indication of our faith in Kwesi Appiah as Ghana coach’, Nyantekyie said. ‘We have agreed a two-year extension because we are convinced he is leading us in the right direction,
