Photo of the week: Open defecation: A threat to Ghana’s tourism development.

Ghana’s quest to rake in more money from the country’s tourism resources for national development, is under sever threat.

This is because, residents along the coastal areas keep defecating on beaches despite the vigorous campaign undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism and leading environmental Non Governmental Originations.

Ghana is endowed with naturally beautiful beach resources that should have been properly developed for recreational purposes to attract more tourists and increase the nation’s revenue.

Unfortunately, residents along the coastal belt have resorted to easing themselves at these beaches as this photo taken at Dansoman beach shows.

The introduction of Marine Police and Echo Brigade project  was expected to bring sanity at these beaches but residents still prefer  defecating at beaches.
