NPP core voters will abandon party should Alan win – NPP students warn

Some students group of the opposition NPP has raised a red flag against the possible election of Mr. Alan Kyerematen to lead the party in the 2016 elections.

According to the group, Students Network for Nana Addo (STUNNAD), the party should forget winning the election if Mr Kyerematen is presented as its flagbearer because the party’s core voters would desert them on the election day.

‘With this, we like to say to Mr. Cash that with him as our presidential candidate, then we wouldn’t even have ‘our core voters’. Our so called core voters will not even go to the polling stations and vote. We wouldn’t like to believe that he himself has been a floating voter in the last two elections,’ the group said in a statement.

The group also claimed it has uncovered plots by opponents of Nana Akufo-Addo in concert with some NDC stalwarts to frustrate the ambition of Nana Akufo-Addo, and has therefore threatened to expose them.

RE-‘NPP WILL LOSE 2016 IF WE FILED NANA ADDO’
We have read this news item on citifmonline.com attributed to Mr. Alan Kyerematen with the headline ‘NPP will lose 2016 if we filed Nana Addo’.

We, STUNNAD would like to believe that is an embellishment strategy by Citi FM just to make news out hot, but if indeed Alan made those unfortunate and bizarre statements as we have read in the news, then we want to remind him of himself else he must come out and deny the story attributed to him.

According to the report, Mr. Kyrematen said party delegates must give him victory in the next presidential primary elections or risk losing the 2016 elections. Implying that without him NPP will lose the election. If such a statement is coming from a man who because of his personal interest against the common interest of the party refused to participate in 2012 campaign, then the serial caller who spent his own air time on radio defending the party has more to  say.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko, Campaign Manager for the 2012 Campaign has subsequently come out with the truth of how Alan Kyerematen deliberately refused to play a significant role in the 2012 Campaign. According to Mr. Agyarko, in February 2012, he called Alan Kyerematen at the instance of Nana Akufo-Addo to discuss the role Mr. Kyerematen would want to play in the campaign. True to his nature, Mr. Kyerematen asked that he should be left to concentrate on his job in Addis Ababa and that he will return to Ghana in April 2012 to pick up a significant role in the campaign.

Alas, April 2012 came and ended with no sign of Mr. Alan Kyerematen in Ghana. Several calls were made to his Addis Ababa location to clarify the situation but interestingly, Mr. Kyerematen picked none of these calls according to the 2012 Campaign Manager. We believe this is the reason why he will win the presidential primaries.

It would amaze us if Mr. Kyerematen has persuaded himself and insulted our intelligence into believing that his quest for an international appointment while the party stood in court and while others had abandoned appointments they held so they could push the party’s position would so easily be forgiven and forgotten by the party faithful.  He certainly wouldn’t dare think so low of the intelligence of the electorates by pretending that they would forgive him for having as his chief lobbyist for the same international appointment, the person whose elevation as president we were contesting in court. We want to remind him that we are well awake and alive.

Mr. Kyerematen, again according the report said the NPP lost the last two elections because of two main factors- apathetic party grassroots and swing voters who did not vote NPP. ‘The challenge that we have is not convincing our core voters in the party,’ he explained. ‘ Almost invariably you can imagine that if everything goes well, you can expect that our core voters will vote for us. The difference lays in how we convince the swing voters’

With this, we like to say to Mr. Cash that with him as our presidential candidate, then we wouldn’t even have ‘our core voters’. Our so called core voters will not even go to the polling stations and vote. We wouldn’t like to believe that he himself has been a floating voter in the last two elections.

In as much as NPP believes in an open democratic society, such internal contest is always normal, but we wish to advise Mr. Kyeremanteng and his co-equals and cohorts to leave Nana Addo from their campaign songs and concentrate on their own. We are fully aware of their plots to kick out Nana Addo from the race, which can never happen. We are aware of their ties with some NDC gurus to frustrate Nana Addo and we will soon expose them to the public if they vow to stand by their wish.

We will not sit down for any person(s) to frustrate Nana Addo out of the race and WE WILL RESIST THEM to the latter.
