The 27-year-old has been without a coach since splitting from Ivan Lendl in March, and told BBC Sport on Friday that he has identified someone he would like to work with.
Although Murray has not made a formal offer as yet, he revealed that the person in question has indicated that they would like to take on the role.
“I have an idea of exactly what I want,” he said. “I’ve thought about it a lot, I’ve spoken to them and I’ll see.
“It’s not like you chat to the person and the next day it’s done.
“You have to get a contract in place and there’s always a few little complications in that respect, but as long as the desire from both people is to work together then hopefully it can happen fairly soon.
“There’s always a bit of detail and stuff that needs to get worked out, slightly more in depth discussion about things but hopefully nothing will happen in the next couple of weeks because I’ll still be here (at the French Open), but maybe just after.”
Murray broke his grand slam duck under the tutelage of Lendl, winning the US Open and Wimbledon.
