One More to Win: Dramani eyes Kotoko double win

After finally wrapping up a 23rd league title, champions Asante Kotoko have set their sights on adding the FA Cup to complete a double.

Goals from Seidu Bancey and Prince Baffoe helped the Reds to a 2-1 away win over New Edubiase United in Bekwai on Wednesday, sealing their third league title in three years.

“Of course, we have now finished one [the league], and it is left with one [FA Cup], and so we’ll go in for it,” Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani exclusively told Allsports.com.gh.

Addressing Kotoko’s much publicized dip in form that saw them win only once in seven games before the Edubiase clash, Dramani played down the “crisis” talk.

“Dip in form? I have never talked like that if you’ve listened to everything that I’ve said during the season. If you are 10 or 13 points clear at the top, how can you say your form has dipped? We always knew we would win, just that at a point, due to the lack of opposing competition, player motivation and desire dropped and there was little we could do at times,” he explained.

“And it’s natural, one of those things that set in and isn’t easy to deal with but we never fell off track completely. We just had to pull ourselves together.”

The Porcupine Warriors have now sealed the title with two games to spare, but Dramani admitted that they could have done it earlier.

“Maybe we would’ve wanted to do it earlier, but I was never in doubt.”

Dramani, who has won his second career league title in his second ever season, will be hoping to win Kotoko’s first ever double.
