The Bemuah Royal Hospital
The Bemuah Royal Hospital, an ultra-modern American-style hospital has begun operations in Ghana.
The hospital, located at 17 Asoyi Crescent, East Legon, offers ambulatory to critical care and the most diagnostic equipment in one location.
Dr William Ankobiah, president and physician-in-chief, taking the media through the activities of the hospital during a media training event said the hospital started operations seven months ago.
He said Bemuah Royal is a specialist hospital dedicated to providing excellent care everyday to its patients.
He said the hospital also provides training for physicians and other health care professionals in partnership with its academic wing, the American Heart and Lung Centre and the Nana Ankobiah Foundation.
‘We provide medical service in general medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, pulmonary care, outpatient, asthma and chest pain,’ he said.
Dr Ankobiah, a heart and lung specialist, teaching the media how individuals could prevent impending and sudden cardiac arrest and how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) said giving CPR to a person with cardiac arrest has a 5 percent chance of saving the person as compared to not compressing the chest of the person to allow blood to flow.
He said it was also important for automated external defibrillator (AED) to be used to help a person who suddenly gets a cardiac arrest as it has five times the CPR chance of saving the person.
‘Every organisation or establishment should have the automated external defibrillator (AED), a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses life-threatening cardiac arrest and is able to treat them through the application of electrical therapy,’ he said.
He said cancer and heart diseases caused about 50 percent of deaths in humans hence the urgent need for people to go for regular heart and lung check-ups to ensure their hearts were functioning properly.
‘We at the Bemuah Royal Hospital have the equipment and professionals to take care of your heart and lungs needs,’ he said.
