3 Grab uniBank’s Sponsorship Package To Brazil

Three business entities have emerged winners of the uniBank’s Let’s Go Brazil Promo which was held at a colorful ceremony in Accra to draw down the curtains of the promo.

The draw which was conducted by the National Lottery Authority (NLA), saw Cindilog Textiles and Garment Limited (Accra Mall), winning the first prize of an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, plus $10,000 spending money.

The second and third winners-ATK Links Enterprise (Roman Hill), Accra and Curlton Enterprise in Kumasi won $7,000 and $4,000 spending money, respectively, to watch the Black Stars’ group games against the USA, Portugal and Germany.

Also, winners who placed fourth and fifth were given LED TV sets and DSTv subscriptions as consolation prizes, while five other winners got DSTv subscriptions.

In a short address, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, commended the initiative by uniBank to take loyal customers to Brazil, as the government couldn’t afford to finance fans to the World Cup.

He recognised uniBank as a loyal partner of the Black Stars, adding that the indigenous bank deserved recognition for supporting the team throughout the qualifying stages for the World Cup.

Afriyie-Ankrah was confident that the Black Stars would perform well at upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil to pay back the trust uniBank and Ghanaians reposed in the team.

As he put it: “I’m hopeful the unique contribution of uniBank will not be in vain at the World Cup”.

The Chief Executive Officer of uniBank Ghana Limited, Felix Nyarko-Pong said: “As an indigenous bank, with its key focus on the SME sector, we are mindful of our CSR, that when the nation calls on corporate bodies to support a national cause, it behooves all citizens and corporate bodies to rise to the occasion”.

He added it was against this backdrop and firm believe in the Ghanaian that they collectively supported their ‘own’, the Black Stars.

The Black Stars in November last year signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Ghanaian owned bank following a request from the Ghana Football Authority (GFA).

uniBank therefore becomes the first indigenous bank to sponsor the Black Stars, with a whopping amount of $1.2 million for a three-year period, Mr. Nyarko-Pong told participants at well-attended draw ceremony.

He stated: “Indeed, our timely response enabled and motivated the team to qualify for the third consecutive time to the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament to be hosted in Brazil”.

Mr. Nyarko-Pong explained that aside providing a strategic financial anchor to the GFA/Black Star, they deemed it appropriate to not only support the team but also galvanise fan support for the team while in Brazil.

So, on February 19, 2014, the bank launched the “Let’s Go Brazil Promo” in Accra. This promo is to give a fair opportunity to all uniBank customers and more importantly, the soccer loving ones the unique opportunity to go to Brazil and support the Black Stars.
