Mahatma Otoo Wins Ghana League Best Player


Mahatma Otoo of Accra Hearts of Oak was named Ghana Premier League’s best player of the season at the fifth edition of the annual Premier League Board (PLB) Awards Gala night held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Accra.

The striker beat competition Berekum Chelsea’s Lee Addy and Kessben FC’s marksman, Bismark Idan for the prize.

Mahatma Otoo then 18 years-old, scored 10 goals in the 2009/10 league season and ended up earning a place in the local Black Stars team.

Other award winners were
The Golden Boot award went to Bismark Idan and Samuel Affum of Hearts of Oak. Both strikers finished with 13 goals apiece, three short of Alex Asamoah’s 16 scored for last season.

Black Stars defender, Lee Addy was once again voted the defender of the season, thus winning the award for the second consecutive time after edging past Hearts of Oak’s Karim Alhassan and Daniel Addo of King Faisal.

Aduana Stars’ goalkeeper Stephen Adams picked the Goalkeeper of the Season Award.

Adams conceded 10 goals in 29 matches in their league debut to lift the trophy. His coach Herbert Addo, was named the Best Coach of the Season.
