Brazil 2014: Rashid Sumaila arrives ahead of Ghana’s early preparations

South Africa based defender Rashid Sumaila is the latest to arrive in Ghana on Monday night ahead of the commencement of Black Stars’ preparations for the 2014 World Cup.

The PSL League winner will arrive in Accra on Monday night after winning the league with Mamelodi Sundowns after just a season with the club.

The 21-year-old will join the Black Stars’ non-residential preparations which start on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Sumaila’s arrival brings the number of already arrived foreign-based players to six ahead of Tuesday’s preparations.

Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful, Jerry Akaminko, Rabiu Mohammed and Abdul Majeed Waris have all arrived in the country.

The team will however be hosted to a sending off dinner by President John Mahama on Thursday evening before they depart to the Netherlands to intensify their preparations.

Ghana will take on the Netherlands in an international friendly on May 31 before moving camp to the USA where they are billed to play South Korea in another friendly in Miami. Story by Ghana/Joy Sports
