Hearts of Oak recorded an emphatic 4-1 season-break victory over Ghanaian Division Two side Impilo FC at their ATTC training grounds on Friday afternoon.

Youngster Gabriel Darko made it a point to prove more lethal against the third-tier side as he bagged a brace on an afternoon Mohammed Polo’s boys produced a glistening display and crowned it with a lactating triumph.

The Phobians required just three minutes inside the first-half to break the deadlock, with Cobbinah and Darko exchanging passes up-field before releasing Acquah into space inside the visitors’ area and he calmly planted a clinical, left-footed finish into the far corner and hand his team control.

Striker Gerald Wellington nailed a trademark 13th minute finish to cushion Hearts’ lead after Acquah’s opener before Darko grabbed his first goal of the afternoon.

Impilo could not match the class of the Premier League giants and they conceded the second goal of the afternoon on the 21st minute. It was a goal engineered by Winful Cobbinah. The former VfL Wolfsburg trialist broke free inside the area before slipping a pass to Gabriel Darko. And, 19-year-old kept his composure to power the ball into the far bottom corner to close the chapter for the first department.

Hearts lifted their foot off the gear and Impilo’s growing confidence allowed them to penetrate the Hearts defence which had Nuru Sulley as Jordan Mintah pulled a goal back for his side. 3-1. 51 minutes.

The Phobians returned into scoring moods went in search of a goal just three minutes after Mintah’s consolation. Nuru’s intelligent through-pass found Cobbinah who hammered a fierce drive which sailed insurmountably into the stanchion.

Cobbinah’s appetite to get on the score-sheet push him more and more closer and in the 68th minute, 14 minutes after his petrifying drive that ricocheted the woodwork, he was denied by the visitors’ keeper but Darko was around to calmly tab home for his second goal of the afternoon.

Hearts resume will resume their season with a week 28 home game against an electrifying Inter Allies side at the Accra Sports Stadium on May 21.
