Ayittey Powers demands re-match; says he lost because Banku was overweight

Defeated Ayittey Powers in Thursday’s ‘Judgment Night’ bout, is calling for a re-match with Brimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku.

All three judges scored the none title cruiserweight bout 117/109, 119/100, 120/108 in favour of Bukom Banku after 12 rounds of bout.

But Powers has attributed his defeat to the fact that Bukom Banku weighed more than him. He stated that per international boxing regulations Banku should either be disqualified or he, Powers should have been declared the winner because Banku was overweight on the night.

He told Citi FM on Friday that decided to fight out of respect for fans who had purchased tickets since the bout had been moved twice from its original date.

According to him, but for Banku’s weight advantage, he [Powers] would have won the bout.

“The weight difference was too much and that was the problem for me. I could have decided not to fight after he came in 8 pounds overweight but I felt I needed to respect the fans who had bought tickets so I fought”.

He is however calling for a rematch and asking Banku to meet the required weight if he [Banku] decides to give him a rematch.
