Junior Graphic/Samsung Xmas Promo winners receive prizes

Ten winners of the Junior Graphic/Samsung Ghana Xmas Promotion have received Samsung Galaxy tablets at a ceremony held in Accra last Thursday.

The promotion attracted participation from schoolchildren all over the country.

Speaking at the function, the Editor of the Junior Graphic, Mrs Mavis Kitcher, said there had been a massive improvement in technology and children, no matter where they find themselves in the country, needed to be exposed to computers so as to compete with other kids in the world.

In order to help children who are the main readers of the Junior Graphic to explore the world around them, the newspaper, together with support from Samsung, decided to reward the children with the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 Kids to allow for easy use.

Mrs Kitcher noted that parents needed to regulate the period children used the tablets  since it had a time management feature to set specific periods the children could use the tablets.

She also advised the children not to use the tablets only for games but to seek more information on their school work since there were applications on the tablet that made learning easier.

Mrs Kitcher asked the children to make the Junior Graphic their companion since it had a lot of interesting information that would enhance their knowledge.

A representative of Samsung, Mrs Nancy Kyei,  said the Samsung company decided to support the Junior Graphic initiative because the company believed in the academic development of children.

She said the new Samsung Galaxy for kids had two interface for children between one and 13 years.

Ms Kyei commended all the winners for doing well in solving the puzzle and advised them to use the tablets wisely.

The Director in charge of Marketing of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ms Shirley Acquaah-Harrison, also advised the children to read widely, especially the Junior Graphic, to broaden their horizon.

Some of the prize winners expressed gratitude to the Junior Graphic and Samsung Ghana, and promised that they would use the tablets to improve their studies.

They also entreated other children to read the Junior Graphic and make it their companion.
