“I have voice recordings and whattsapp messages, if they push me, I’ll put them on the internet”.

The Artiste of the year at the just ended VGMA’ s Shatta Wale, has said in an exclusive interview on Sunyani-based Suncity Radio 97.1 MHz with Melvina Frimpong Manso, host of Showbiz 971 that, he feels good to be crowed the overall artiste of the year because, his hard work, determination, fans and above all, God have spoken adding that, ‘the stone that the builders rejected has become the corner stone’.

Touching on why he didn’t show up for the award ceremony Shatta Wale said ‘I told my fans, I don’t trust charter House and how they organize award shows in Ghana, Secondly, they contacted me, and wanted me to perform on the show, I quoted my price as ?100,000 and my last price which was ?70,000 because they pay so much money to foreign acts so much money to perform in Ghana.

However, Organizers of the annual and prestigious Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse has challenged Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale to substantiate his allegation that, the outfit paid Nigerian artistes, Davido and Iyanya huge sums of money to perform at the awards, yet refused to pay his asking fee of 70,000GHC.

Reacting to the allegation for the first time at the post media soiree for this year’s awards, Charterhouse’s PRO, George Quaye said that, their outfit is challenging the newly crowned Artiste of the Year and self-acclaimed Dancehall King to back his allegations with evidence (that is if there is any) or stop deceiving the public with false information.

‘It is not just Shatta [Wale] who has made allegations about VGMA organization doling out [huge] sums of money to Nigerian artistes. Now the practice in Nigeria … is that a lot of the time, for awards that are designed to honour them, they [Nigerian artistes] do not really charge. For those that even charge, it’s not their professional fees that they charge,’ he said

Reacting to the above statement, Shatta Wale said, he does not have any problem with some artistes deciding not to charge Charter house for their services.

‘May be they(the said musicians) have a relationship with them but I do not have a relationship with them(Charter House), which is why I have to charge them’. He insisted negotiations did take place between the two parties.’I have recordings and whatsApp messages on my phone in which all the conversations I had with George Quaye are saved and I can post them on the internet for everyone to see, they are liars and we have to stop them from organizing award shows’.He said

Shatta Wale thanked all his fans in Ghana and the world over for believing in him and the Shatta Movement. He also paid tribute to Suncity Radio for their continuous support and consistently playing his music. He has promised his fans a great 2014 and urged all his fans to help him raise funds for the Ghana Black Stars for Brazil 2014.
