2014 World Cup: Dropped Mahatma Otoo charges selected Black Stars to ‘die for Ghana’

Ghana striker Mahatma Otoo has told the selected Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup ‘this is the time to die for Ghana’.

Coach Kwesi Appiah excluded the ex Hearts of Oak captain from his provisional 26-man squad for June’s tournament in Brazil.

Otoo has been a good form recently for his Norwegian club Sogndal where he has scored three goals in six games.

His good form however appears to have come just too late as Kwesi Appiah kept faith with four strikers including captain Asamoah Gyan, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Abdul Majeed Waris and Jordan Ayew.

Otoo, 22, has since thrown his support behind the selected squad but says they must be prepared to ‘die for Ghana’.

“The hour has finally arrived, and the decision made,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“Congratulations to all my colleagues who made the squad. Now is the time to die for mother Ghana.

“Wishing them all the best. Ghanaians, this is the squad let’s give them all it takes to make our nation proud. Cheers.”
