Ghanaian midfielder Gladson Awako scored the only goal to hand TP Mazembe the DR Congo top flight title against rivals AS Vita on Sunday.

The ex Berekum Chelsea man headed in what eventually proved to be the winner in the 35 th minute off a cross from fellow Ghanaian Solomon Asante.

The Ravens were however saved by solid defending and impressive saves from goalkeeper Kidiaba especially in the dying minutes of the game played in Kinshasa.

Mazembe this clinch their 14 th top flight title after emerging winners of the four-team playoffs with 13 points from six games.

They were however unable to be decorated with their medals following crowd trouble at the home of their bitterest rivals.

Patrice Cateron’s side will be meeting AS Vita once more again having been drawn in the same group in the CAF Champions League.

The club are therefore reportedly preparing an official complaint to CAF over the behaviour of the Vita fans on Sunday ahead of their meeting in the Champions League.

Mazembe’s title triumph represents the second top flight triumph for Ghana’s quintet; Solomon Asante, Daniel Nii Adjei, Yaw Frimpong, Gladson Awako and Richard Kissi Boateng.
