Ashanti’s Don’t Feel Insulted By Prez Mahama’s Comments

A member of the Government’s Communication Machinery, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed, believes the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is making unnecessary noise about nothing since the people of Ashanti descent whom President John Dramani Mahama reportedly described as ungrateful have not openly come out to voice any concern about the president’s choice of words.

Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Naziru Mohammed opined that the opposition New Patriotic Party has no message for Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 elections as fear looms their camp when they perceive the developmental projects taking place in the Ashanti Region; considered the NPP’s World Bank.

“This is just rhetoric NPP is making to divert the attention of the people of Ashanti Region from the good work of President Mahama in the Ashanti Region…..in fact the Ashantis don’t feel insulted by President Mahama because their focus is on the development they are receiving from the NDC government…look, NPP does not have any new message for Ghanaians. The fight appears too big for them to the extent that they have resorted to biting as the adage says….NDC is poised to get 35 percent votes in the Ashanti Region in the next elections and that is making NPP panic…President Mahama is the Joshua of our time and he will surely take the country to the promise land”, he stated.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the NDC, has expressed disgust at what it says is the desperate attempt at taking the shine off President Mahama’s successful visit to the region.

It finds it mischievous that people would not talk about the numerous development projects he inspected and inaugurated, but rather pick only the advice to his party’s supporters to remain focus and refuse to be deterred by their opponents who would never appreciate anything good the government does and blow this out of proportion.

The NDC also poured scorn on the ethnic twist being given to the President’s remark to create the impression that he was out to hurt the feelings of Asantes.
