Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has urged oil and gas companies in the United States to invest in various sectors of Ghana’s oil and gas industry.

Addressing the Mayor of Houston, Texas, Annise D. Parker in the United States, the Vice President called for closer collaboration with the City of Houston, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

He observed that such a collaboration could be mutually beneficial, stating that ‘whilst there is a lot to learn from Houston’s oil and gas industry, there is also huge potential for investment in Ghana’s oil and gas sector’.

Mr Amissah-Arthur also pointed out that collaboration in the area of fuel craft training, maintenance and welding, and higher level education in oil and gas would be required to propel Ghanaians to various levels of employment in the local oil and gas industry.

The Vice President, who is attending the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, made a case for investment in Ghana’s oil and gas industry when he addresses industry players.

The Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, which is oil and gas industry’s foremost event for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the areas of drilling, environmental protection, exploration, production development, innovation and technology, ends today.
