Fennec had bad wife – Dad speaks out

Family of the late Artiste Manager, Fennec Okyere, has expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the “continuous biased media reports” about the sore marriage relationship between the deceased and his wife, Amakie.

The head of family and father of Fennec, Nana Okyere Agyiii, the Adontehene of Gomoa Achiase, said the family would never recognize Amakie as a daughter-in- law because of the way she treated Fennec; and this is the main reason why they did not recognize her as widow during the deceased’s burial and funeral rites.

“I am speaking in my capacity as Fennec Okyere’s father and head of family. As far as I am concerned, Fennec had no wife when he died. He married a bad woman and the marriage did not work so both families agreed to dissolve the marriage-— and Amakie”s mother is witness to what I  am saying.

“We have had several meetings where she had said in plain language that Fennec was below her class, and she even refused to wear his wedding ring. Meetings were attended by both families and even pastors, but we could not get Amakie to change her mind.

“We are not a bad family as a section of the media is making us seem. There are a lot of serious issues we have on our hearts. Issues that are very embarrassing and would make anyone agree with us that Fennec, in reality, had no wife. But we decided to keep our cool because of our grandchild and the fact that there is no need responding because that would not resurrect Fennec.

“We kept our cool and decided not to respond but no responsible and respectable family would keep silent when their name is being dragged into the gutters by people who are spreading onesided reports and untruths about family issues with deeper implications,” Nana Adontehene disclosed on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review.

Why Amakie Left Fennec
Nana Adontehene revealed that barely two months into their marriage, Amakie left and never returned because she said she wanted her husband, Fennec to build his own house and not stay in an apartment given to him by Ursula Owusu Ekuful.

to stay at East Legon. But the lady said she wanted Fennec to reject the place and get his own house. She moved out and for two years, Fennec was struggling to build a house. Even when the house was completed, Amakie said Fennec had too many friends around and would not come there until he sacks all his guys. The very day Fennec sacked all those around him and even removed the houseboy from the boys’ quarters and called Amakie and told her he was in the house all alone, was the day he got killed. She agreed to return in the morning but he was killed at dawn,” Nana Adontehene noted.

But a sister of Amakie has denied the allegations. She called into the programme and said Amakie left Fennec not because he was staying in an apartment belonging to Madam Owusu Ekuful, but because Fennec was smoking marijuana.

In a sharp rebuttal, a sister of Fennec, Florence Okyere Adarkwah, who also spoke on the show, said the issue of Fennec smoking marijuana was a red-herring.  “We do not know hint as a weed smoker but even if he was, did she not know before they got married? Which responsible woman would leave her husband because he does not own a house?” Florence quizzed.

She made rather disturbing revelations about Amakie and her ex-lover, Ahmed.
