Accra, May 7, GNA – The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has declared Ashanti Gold losers of their MTN FA Cup quarter-final match against Asante Kotoko last month.

This is in view of AshGolds decision not to honour the match at the Accra Sports Stadium, citing financial constraints.

The Disciplinary Committee ruled after hearing arguments from the two clubs on Tuesday that Kotoko has advanced to the last four of the competition without kicking a ball.

According to the ruling, Ashanti Gold did not have a just cause for not honouring the match in Accra.

“That in accordance with GFA Regulations Article 34 (3) Ashanti Gold is declared losers of the FA Cup quarter final match with Kotoko to have been played on13th April 2014. That provided in GFA Regulations Article 34 (5) (b) Kotoko are declared winners and have qualified to play in the semi-final of the FA Cup Competition.

“That in accordance with GFA Regulations Article 34 (5) (b) Ashanti Gold is ordered to pay GH¢ 1,000.00 and fifty percent (50%) of this amount should be paid to Kotoko.

Kotoko would meet city rivals, King Faisal at the semis.

The game was pushed to the Accra Sports Stadium only two days before the original date at the Baba Yara Stadium following a three-match home ban imposed on Kotoko for crowd violence in a Premier League match with Heart of Lions.
